YEAR TWO in underway, and we are proud to announce our 4 recreation programs who’ll be playing in May/June

STANDISH
WINDHAM
SACO

2015 was the 1st year of our Gaelic Football League for middle school grades (6-8). Our participants were:
SOPO/Cape Rec
Standish Recreation

24 kids took part in a 5 week program that culminated in games in SOPO and Standish. Additionally, we had a clinic put on by the Connemara Gaels football club from Boston.

We are looking to add another 2-3 programs to the League each year moving forward. The program will run from May to June for 5-6 weeks and the current stipulations are:

Be within 45 minutes driving distance of Greater Portland
The Rec program must provide a field, soccer goals, and keep registration fees to under $35
Local Rec staff will provide someone for GAA Foundation Award certification. This is a FREE 6 hour class that teaches how to play football and teach those skills to kids

MGSA will provide coaches, a grant for footballs, and arrange games. In the 2nd year, we transition the local program to take ownership of the coaching but we will mentor, run clinics, and arrange games.
